Opera for Earth to Present ‘Macbeth’

New York-based company Opera for Earth is set to present Verdi’s “Macbeth” on Oct. 30, 2021.

The performance, which will be at St John’s in the Village, will be performed in-person and professionally broadcast with a cast that includes Brian Montgomery as Macbeth and Jodi Karem as Lady Macbeth.

The cast will be rounded out by Kofi Hayford as Banquo, Nicholas Simpson as Macduff, Monica Camafreita as Witch / Dama, Frank Mathis as Malcolm, and Maestro William Hicks on piano. Louis Rocky Bacigalupo will direct the work.

Opera for Earth is an opera company conceived by Jodi Karem and later joined by Monica Camafreita, that began planning opera productions and outreach during the COVID-19 pandemic. The company is currently in residence at the Neill-Cochran House Museum, in Austin, TX, and has performed “America…A Quest for Freedom,” a children’s musical show and a 90-minute semi-staged adaptation of Verdi’s “Macbeth.”
