A concert performance of the first Act of Wagner’s epic opera “Die Walküre” will take place at Den Norske Opera in Oslo, on September 10 & 13, 2020.

The concert will star tenor Michael Weinius in the role of Siegmund, soprano Elisabet Strid as Sieglinde, and bass Jens-Erik Aasbø as Hunding.

Michael Weinius’ last performance before the lockdown was the role of Don Florestan in a concert performance of Beethoven’s “Fidelio” at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, alongside Nina Stemme and John Lundgren. The tenor was slated to perform the title role in Wagner’s “Tristan und Isolde” at the Royal Opera House in May 2020. The opera was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Elisabet Strid will repeat her signature role, which she performed at the Teatro Real Madrid and Kungliga Operan in Stockholm before the lockdown. Strid is slated to return to the stage in the role of Chrysothemis in Richard Strauss’ “Elektra” at the Teatro Massimo di Palermo in November 2020.

Den Norske Opera has announced that it will deploy strict COVID-19 safety rules for both the artists and the audiences.

Patrik Ringborg will conduct the Den Norske Opera Orchestra.
