By Francisco Salazar

The Metropolitan Opera has announced a cast change for its Dec. 30 performance of “Cinderella.”

The company noted that the role of Madame de la Haltière will be sung by Eve Gigliotti, replacing Stephanie Blythe.

Gigliotti made her Met debut in 2010 as Mercédès in “Carmen” and this season is performing the roles of the Nurse in “Boris Godunov,” Giovanna in “Rigoletto,” Second Maid in “Elektra” and Mother Goose in “The Rake’s Progress.”

The mezzo joins a cast that includes Jessica Pratt, Isabel Leonard, Samantha Hankey, and Laurent Naouri. Emmanuel Villaume conducts the production by Laurent Pelly.

Blythe is expected to return to the production for the HD performance on Jan. 1 and for the final performance on Jan. 3, 2022.
