
Max Emanuel Cencic, Eva Zalenga, Christophe Dumaux, Julia Lezhneva, Petr Nekoranec Among Headlines of Bayreuth Baroque Opera Festival 2026

The Bayreuth Baroque Opera Festival has announced its seventh edition, running Sept. 4–13, 2026.
Händel’s “Floridante” receives six performances as a co-production with the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe and the International Handel Festival Karlsruhe. Artistic Director Max Emanuel Cencic stages and sings the title role with Eva Zalenga, Sonja Runje, Bruno de Sá, Pavel Kudinov, and Yannis François.

Countertenor Christophe Dumaux appears with Les Accents under Thibault Noally in a Händel program.

Soprano Julia Lezhneva performs with Baptiste Lopez and the Basel Chamber Orchestra in a program of “suitcase arias.”

Federico Fiorio, Maayan Licht, and Dennis Orellana appear together in a concert titled “The Sopranos.”

At the Friedrichsforum, Emöke Baráth and Andreas Scholl make their festival debuts in a program of arias and duets.

There will also be concerts at Bayreuth’s Palace Church featuring Petr Nekoranec with Kateřina Ochmanová and the ensemble I Porporini with Maximiliano Danta.

Finally, there will be culinary events include a gala dinner at Schloss Birken and a brunch at the Eremitage Orangerie.
The Wrocław Baroque Orchestra serves as the 2026 resident orchestra under Markellos Chryssicos. International broadcasts will be offered through BR-Klassik, Mezzo TV, and ARTE.
