Lahav Shani Extends Contract with Israel Philharmonic

Lahav Shani has renewed his contract with the Israel Philharmonic.

The conductor will extend his contract through 2032 after the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra musicians voted to renew the conductor. Shani took over the position in 2020 and succeeded Zubin Mehta.

The conductor is the Chief Conductor of the Rotterdam Philharmonic and is the principal guest conductor of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra. In 2026 he will become the Chief Conductor of the Munich Philharmonic.

Shani has guest-conducted orchestras such as the Wiener Philharmoniker, Berliner Philharmoniker, Gewandhaus Orchester, Münchner Philharmoniker, Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, London Symphony Orchestra, Filarmonica della Scala, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Philadelphia Orchestra, Budapest Festival Orchestra, Orchestre de Paris, and Philharmonia Orchestra.
