Joyce DiDonato Releases Statement in Support Of Kamala Harris

By Francisco Salazar

As the election gets near, Joyce DiDonato has officially voiced support for Kamala Harris.

In a video message via social media, DiDonato said, that if “Donald Trump is elected again we will no longer recognize our country… A vote for Donald Trump is a vote for hate and against humanity. He and everyone around him is preying on our fears.”

She also spoke to young people and said that if you leave the name empty on the presidential ballot, it is not a protest nor an effective strategy and noted that the empty vote will be a vote for Donald Trump. She added that if Trump is elected, there will be no more protests, especially for those fighting for Gaza and Ukraine.

In a comment, DiDonato added, “My ultimate goal, which honestly feels more difficult with each passing day, is to find a way to keep a gesture of open arms to those who are knowingly and willfully still supporting the hate and division that fuels this man. Let’s put Kamala Harris into the White House, and then work on restoring unity in every way we can.

Didonato is the latest classical musician to support Harris openly following Yannick Nézet-Séguin and AGMA, which endorsed the Vice President in September, make her the second presidential candidate that the union endorsed. Limmie Pulliam also voiced his support for Harris noting, “I just voted early for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz. The right-wing media says we go too far when we call Donald Trump a threat to democracy—but I’m a firm believer in calling a thing a thing. We can’t go back to the chaos, division, and lies. We won’t go back.”
