Hebrew Union College’s Debbie Friedman School of Sacred Music marks its sesquicentennial by celebrating sacred music in “A Festival of Song.”
This concert will feature highlights from the Jewish sacred repertoire, including a performance of Louis Lewandowski’s “Psalm 150,” and culminate in the full presentation of “The Song of Jonah,” an award-winning cantata by Cantor Justin Callis. Sung in English, Hebrew, and Yiddish, this powerful work brings the biblical story of Jonah to life through the combined voices of multiple choirs, soloists, and a full orchestra.
“A Festival of Song” will take place on Nov. 20 at 7:30 pm, at the Temple Israel of the City of New York.
