Curtis Institute of Music to Stream Russian Works Recital

The Curtis Institute of Music will be streaming a Russian Works Recital this Friday, April 3, 2020 on its official YouTube and Facebook page. The showcase kicks off at 8 p.m. EDT.

It featured soprano Emily Damasco, baritone Patrick Wilhelm, soprano Lindsey Reynolds, soprano Olivia Smith, baritone Charles Buttigieg, soprano Merissa Beddows, tenor Martin Luther Clark, soprano Sage DeAgro-Ruopp, soprano Ziyi Dai, soprano Sophia Hunt, bass Thomas Petrushka, bass Eva Gray, bass-baritone Andrew Moore, soprano Sarah Fleiss, and soprano Dalia Medovnikov.

Among the pieces performed in the recital were “Heavenly Clouds” by Cui; “In the Still of the Night” and “A Dream in the Summer Night” by Rimsky-Korsakov; “A Sacred Place by Medtner;” “Russian Song,” “The Virgin in the City,” and “St. Petersburg Song” by Sviridov.

Other vocal works on the program include “Arion” and “Six Songs” by Rachmaninoff; “Rusalka” by Glière; and “Four Monologues on Poems by Pushkin by Shostakovich, among others.

The Curtis Music Institute is the latest company to launch an online program for its opera community. Check out other companies engaged in similar endeavors here.
