Cumbria Opera Group has announced the headline operas for its 2026 and 2027 seasons.

In 2026, the company will celebrate its 10th anniversary with a semi-staged production of Bizet’s “Carmen.”

The opera will be headlined by mezzo-soprano Jess Dandy in the title role with performances set to take place at Victoria Hall, Grange-over-Sands, on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 7:00 p.m., and Sunday, August 30, 2026, at 3:00 p.m.

The Cumbria-born mezzo-soprano has performed at major venues including the BBC Proms, Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, and the Bayreuth Festival, among others.

Meanwhile, in 2027, the organizaiton will feature “La Bohème” on August 27 and 28, 2027.  The 2027 festival will run from August 19–28, 2027.
