Polina Lyapustina

An Editorial Writer, covering the social, ethical, economic, and political aspects of the industry. She joined OperaWire in 2018 with her opera reviews. In 2019, she started to focus on Editorial content. In 2020, Polina kicked off her Criticisms on Fridays series.

She holds a master’s degree in economics and previously wrote critiques of contemporary art and design. Now, Polina lives with her family in Italy and along with writing, works at the historical Florentine music store Occasioni Musicali.

Born in Russia, Polina holds a Master’s degree in Economics and serves as a Product Designer in early-stage startups. During her university studies, she worked with visual arts and later opened her gallery of contemporary art and design. She has written art criticism for Russian Art Newspaper, Hypertext, and Sobaka magazine.

While staying in Lithuania, she worked as a press strategist for the Lithuanian National Opera and wrote editorial materials and criticism for online and printed magazines, such as Bravissimo, Nwind, and Nemunas.

Already in her early opera reviews, Polina pointed out common problems of the industry, which she started to investigate and analyze in her later editorial materials. Today, Polina runs OperaWire’s Editorial Section.

Now, Polina lives with her family in Italy and along with writing, works at the historical Florentine music store Occasioni Musicali.
