Ainhoa Arteta & Teodor Ilincai to Perform ‘Tosca on Stage’ at Bilbao Opera
By Francisco SalazarThe ABAO Bilbao Opera’s concert and recital series comes to a close on May 29 with the concert “Tosca on Stage.”
The concert will showcase soprano Ainhoa Arteta alongside tenor Teodor Ilincai in scenes from “Tosca,” which the two were set to perform on the Bilbao stage; that production was canceled due to ongoing concerns over COVID-19.
The program will also showcase the interludio from “Mirentxu de Guridi” as well as arias “Goizeko eguzki argiak” and “Adiós a la luz del sol de la mañana,” which Arteta will perform.
The concert will also showcase music from “Turandot,” “Don Carlo,” “Pagliacci,” and “I Vespri Sicilianni.”
The Bilbao Orkestra Sinfonikoa will be conducted by Yves Abel, who has previously led performances of “Il Barbiere di Siviglia,” “Oberto Conte di San Bonifaccio,” “Manon,” “La fille du Regiment,” “Norma,” and “Giovanna d’Arco” on the Bilbao stage.
