Ainhoa Arteta Cancels Concert with Euskadiko Orkestra
By Francisco SalazarAinhoa Arteta has canceled her participation with the Euskadiko Orkestra on March 23, 2022, for Brahms’ Requiem.
In a statement, the soprano said, “It is very difficult for me to cancel my return to the stage in my country, something that I was anticipating for months and which I was preparing with the greatest illusion and energy. I have been working hard to get to the best vocal shape in order to perform in an adequate and satisfactory way.
“Unfortunately, it has not been enough and the doctor who has worked with me on my vocal recovery understands that I cannot assume the risk of singing a difficult work at this moment. I am profoundly saddened to not be able to perform and hope to join Euskadiko Orkestra very soon.”
The Euskadiko Orkestra announced it will continue with the concert and said that it would find a replacement for Arteta as soon as possible. The concert will also include Johann Kristinsson and be conducted by Georg Mark.
OperaWire wishes Arteta a speedy recovery.
