Fondazione Teatro di Pisa Announces New Artistic Director

The Fondazione Teatro di Pisa has named Marco Tutino its new Artistic Director starting in the 2026-27 season.

The board of directors announced the news on Nov. 26, 2024 and Tutino beat out 50 other candidates.

The President of the board Diego Fiorini said, “It will be a great opportunity for our theater. He will bring an international scope and will put at the service of his extraordinary skills acquired over many years in the most important theaters in Italy. Maestro immediately declared that he wanted to establish a relationship of artistic synergy with the theater and its workers to give our audiences shows of great artistic value and undisputed beauty. His recognized experience in training is in tune with my thoughts and the spirit of my mandate. We are very proud to have him on our team and we are sure that he will contribute to enriching the creative and cultural offer of our city.”

Tutino was born in Milano and studied at the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi di Milano. he has served as Artistic Director of the Pomeriggi Musicali di Milano, Teatro Regio di Torino, and superintendent of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna. He has also served as Artistic Consultant and Composer in residence at the Fondazione Arena di Verona. Additionally, he is the founder of the school of the Opera italiana.
