2021 Elizabeth Connell Prize International Singing Competition Announces Winners

The 2021 Elizabeth Connell Prize International Singing Competition has announced its winners.

The competition, which is open to mezzo-sopranos and sopranos between ages 25 – 34, was held online for the first time after having to cancel the 2020 competition and a live version of the 2021 competition.

The winners include Russian soprano Oksana Sekerina, Norwegian soprano Sigrid Bøe, Australian soprano Lauren Fagan, South African soprano Leah Gunter, English mezzo Claire Barnett-Jones, German soprano Nina-Maria Fischer, Canadian soprano Mikayla Sager, and Russian contralto Yulia Shavarina.

The jury included Maestro Richard Bonynge AC CBE, Welsh Wagnerian dramatic soprano Dame Anne Evans DBE, Australian dramatic mezzo Bernadette Cullen, and mezzo Fiona Janes.

The competition was established in 2014 in honor of South African dramatic soprano Elizabeth Connell.
