Wolf Trap Opera To Showcase Philip Glass & Rossini

The Wolf Trap Opera gets off to a start this month with numerous operas being showcased.

The season begins on June 14, 2017, with Puccini’s “Tosca” starring Alexandra Loutsion in the title role. Grant Gershon conducts the National Symphony Orchestra in this one-performance event.

Joseph Li conducts Philip Glass’ “The Fall of the House of Usher” for one performance on June 17, 2017. Ben Edquist leads the cast in this haunting work based on Edgar Allan Poe’s famed story.

On June 23, 2017, the company shifts focus to Rossini’s “La Pietra del Paragone.” Anthony Walker conducts the new production and a cast that includes Shea Owens, Anthony Schneider, Megan Mikailovna Samarin, and Summer Hassan. The run includes four performances on June 25, 28, and July 1, 2017.

John Musto’s “Bastianello” and Philip Glass and Robert Moran’s “The Juniper Tree” then get a double bill on August 11, 2017.  Lidiya Yankovskaya conducts an intriguing young cast for four performances.
