Will Stephen Colbert Sing With Pretty Yende on Late Show?

By David Salazar

Rising opera star Pretty Yende will be performing on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Tuesday evening.

She will be the live performance segment of the show, which will also feature Oprah Winfrey.

Colbert has invited prominent opera stars before to be on his show. In 2012, he featured Placido Domingo in a memorable episode that saw the two perform “La Donna E Mobile” from Verdi’s Rigoletto together.

Yende will be performing at the Metropolitan Opera in coming weeks as she takes on the role of Rosina in Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Sivilgia” alongside Javier Camarena. The run starts on January 9 and runs through February 11 for a total of 10 performances.

In March she returns to the Metropolitan Opera House for five performances of Gounod’s “Romeo et Juliette” in a production by Bartlett Sher that made its New York debut on New Years Eve 2016.

Yende will also be on hand to sign autographs of her new album for fans at the Met Opera shop on Feb. 6, 2017. Her new album, entitled “A Journey,” features many standards of the lyric soprano repertoire while also showcasing some rarities from “Le Comte Ory” and “Beatrice di Tenda.”
