Where To Watch The San Francisco Opera 2017-18 Season Live Stream Announcement

It’s that time of the year when companies announce their upcoming seasons. Some companies just release a press release while others put on concerts. In the case of the San Francisco Opera, the company is Live Streaming the announcement on Jan. 17.

At 12:30 Pacific Time, General Director Matthew Shilvock and special guests from the upcoming season John Adams (Composer), Peter Sellars and Francesca Zambello will all go live on Facebook, Youtube and SFOpera.com to announce the season.

Very few details have been revealed but opera lovers should have more details about the upcoming Ring Cycle, which is already on sale and which will feature an all-star cast that includes Evelyn Herlitzius as Brünnhilde, Daniel Brenna as Siegfried and Falk Struckmann as Alberich, Greer Grimsley as Wotan/The Wanderer, Karita Mattila as Sieglinde, Brandon Jovanovich as Froh and Siegmund, and Jamie Barton as Fricka and Waltraute. The production will be directed by acclaimed director Francesca Zambello with Donald Runnicles scheduled to conduct the work.

There is also speculation that John Adams will also announce a new opera and that the new season will include Strauss’ “Elektra” and Puccini’s “Turandot.” All details will be revealed on Tuesday. Keep an eye out on OperaWire for more information and insights into the new season.
