The Metropolitan Opera announces its 2017-18 season on Feb. 15 at 12 p.m. EST.

The company announced on Instagram that the upcoming season would feature 5 new productions, 2 Met Opera premieres, 19 revivals, and one special series of performances. While the majority of the season has been kept under wraps, there are already many known facts. Last summer the Met confirmed that the season would open with a new production of Bellini’s “Norma” with Sondra Radvanovksy. It was also made know that David McVicar would also direct a new production of Puccini’s “Tosca.”

It was also announced that Anna Netrebko would make her role debut as “Tosca” and would also alternate with Kristine Opolais. Peter Gelb also announced that the season had added Verdi’s “Il Trovatore” for Netrebko.

A month ago it was announced that Verdi’s “La Forza del Destino” would not be presented. As a result the opera would be replaced by performances of Verdi’s “Requiem” with Krassimira Stoyanova, mezzo-soprano Ekaterina Semenchuk, tenor Aleksandrs Antonenko and bass Ferruccio Furlanetto.
