Australia

Jonas Kaufmann returns to Australia for a run of Wagner’s “Parsifal” at the Sydney Opera House with Michelle DeYoung. Verdi’s Requiem will also get a performance at the Sydney Opera with  Serena Faronocchia, Milijana Nikolic, Diego Torre and Roberto Scandiuzzi.

Austria 

At the Salzburg Festival, Sonya Yoncheva is ready to delight audiences with her Baroque concert while Anna Netrebko and Francesco Meli continue their run of Verdi’s “Aida.” The Saturday performance of “Aida” will be shown on Arte and later presented on Orff. Meanwhile, Plácido Domingo and Joseph Calleja will perform the second and final performance of Verdi’s “I Due Foscari.” “La Clemenza di Tito” also continues its run.

The Bregenzer Festival continues production of “Carmen.”

Italy 

The Macerata Opera Festival comes to its final weekend presenting Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly” and “Turandot” with France Dariz and Davinia Rodriguez. Liana Aleksanyan also headlines Verdi’s “Aida” at the festival.

The Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro gets off to its first weekend with “The Siege of Corinth” starring Nino Machadize and Luca Pisaroni and “La Pietra del Paragone” with Maxim Mironov. The festival also presents “Torovaldo e Dorliska” with Dmitry Korchak.

The Arena di Verona continues its festival with Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly” with Hui He and Verdi’s “Nabucco” starring Anna Pirozzi and Boris Statsenko. Cellia Costea stars as “Aida” with Marianne Cornetti and Hovhannes Ayvazyan in the festival production.

United Kingdom 

At the Edinburgh International Festival, “Peter Grimes” gets an outing in a concert performance of Benjamin Britten’s defining British opera of the 20th century. The opera stars Stuart Skelton and Erin Wall. Meanwhile, Mozart’s “Don Giovanni will also be performed with Christopher Maltman in the title role and Laura Aikin and Lucy Crowe.
