Vienna State Opera 2017-18 Live Stream: Ring in the New Year with ‘Die Fledermaus’

Have no major plans this New Years Eve? Well, the Vienna State Opera has just the idea for you. With its live streaming service, the company is showcasing a live broadcast of “Die Fledermaus.

The performance will kick off at 7 p.m. local time and run through around 10:30 p.m. Audiences from around the world will get an opportunity to experience the opera from the comfort of their respective homes.

This season’s production will be conducted by Cornelius Meister and will star Michael Schade, Laura Aikin, Stephanie Houtzeel, Benjamin Bruns, Clemens Unterreiner, Maria Nazarova, and Peter Simonischek, among others.

This will be the first performance of the run, with additional showcases on Jan. 1, 3, and 5.

Per the official website, tickets start at 14 euros (approximately $16 USD) and can be purchased right off the Vienna State Opera’s streaming website. There are options for monthly subscriptions to future performances on the service depending on users’ preference to experience opera from the comfort of their homes.

After this production, the company will also live stream 25 operas, including the full “Der Ring des Nibelungen.”
