Vienna State Opera 2017-18 Live Stream: Marina Rebeka & Thomas Hampson Star in ‘Simon Boccanegra’

The Vienna State Opera’s live stream series resumes this Sunday, May 13, 2018, when the company showcases Verdi’s middle period masterwork “Simon Boccanegra.”

Per the official website, the Peter Stein production will be conducted by Evelino Pidò and stars Thomas Hampson in his iconic signature interpretation of the conflicted Doge. Dmitry Belosselskiy, coming off a successful run of “Luisa Miller” at the Met Opera, will interpret the role of Fiesco while Marina Rebeka plays Amelia, and Francesco Meli interprets Adorno.

The performance kicks off at 7 p.m. local time and ends around 10 p.m. For those in North America, the start time is 2 p.m. EDT and 11 a.m. PDT.

Per the official website, tickets start at 14 euros (approximately $16 USD) and can be purchased right off the Vienna State Opera’s streaming website. There are options for monthly subscriptions to future performances on the service depending on users’ preference for experience opera from the comfort of their homes.

Next up on the slate of live streams will be the remaining installments of “Capriccio,” “La Traviata,” “Rigoletto,” “Der Freischütz,” “Lohengrin,” and “Falstaff.”
