By David Salazar

Jonas Kaufmann brings his famed interpretation of Giordano’s “Andrea Chénier” to the Vienna State Opera in a production that will be live streamed online as part of the company’s season-long series.

The showcase on April 29 will be the tenor’s second production of the opera in just a few weeks. He performed the title role in Barcelona a few weeks ago at the Grand Teatre del Liceu. Frequent stage partner Anja Harteros will take on the role of Maddalena; the two performed the work together in Munich last season. Roberto Frontali rounds out the cast as Carlo Gérard. Marco Armiliato conducts.

The stream kicks off at 7 p.m. local time and is slated to run until around 10 p.m. That’s around 2 p.m. EDT and 11 a.m. PST for the start time.

Per the official website, tickets start at 14 euros (approximately $16 USD) and can be purchased right off the Vienna State Opera’s streaming website. There are options for monthly subscriptions to future performances on the service depending on users’ preference for experience opera from the comfort of their homes.

Next up on the slate of live streams will be “Simon Boccanegra,” “Capriccio,” “La Traviata,” “Rigoletto,” “Der Freischütz,” “Lohengrin,” and “Falstaff.”
