Vienna State Opera 2017-18 Live Stream: Ambrogio Maestri Stars As ‘Falstaff’

This Saturday, the Vienna State Opera brings its season-long live stream series to an end with Verdi’s “Falstaff.”

Per the official website, Verdi’s final masterwork will showcase Ambrogio Maestri in his signature role alongside Christopher Maltman as Ford. Among the other major stars of the showcase are Jinxu Xiahou, Olga Bezsmertna, Hila Fahima, and Monika Bohinec. James Conlon conducts Sir David McVicar’s production.

The performance kicks off at 7 p.m. local time and ends around 9:45 p.m. For those in North America, the start time is 2 p.m. EDT and 11 a.m. PDT.

Per the official website, tickets start at 14 euros (approximately $16 USD) and can be purchased right off the Vienna State Opera’s streaming website. There are options for monthly subscriptions to future performances on the service depending on users’ preference for experience opera from the comfort of their homes.

The live stream series will restart on Sept. 11, 2018 with a performance of “Der Freischütz.” That will be followed by “Ariadne auf Naxos,” “La Traviata,” “Werther,” “Don Pasquale,” “Eugene Onegin,” “Les Troyens,” “Elektra,” “Lohengrin,” “L’Elisir D’Amore,” “Don Giovanni,” “La Bohème,” “Madama Butterfly,” and “Hänsel und Gretel,” among others.
