Verdi Chorus Set For ‘The Force of Destiny’ Concert

The Verdi Chorus is set to showcase its annual Spring Concert in just a few weeks.

The organization will perform a wide range of repertoire from opera’s most beloved composer on April 28 and 29. Per a press release, it will feature such soloists as soprano Shana Blake Hill, soprano Karin Mushegain, tenor Alex Boyer, and baritone Ben Lowe.

“The Force of Destiny” concert, which will take place at the First United Methodist Church, will feature operatic sequences from such a number of Verdi classics, including “La Traviata,” “La Forza de Destino,” and “Nabucco.” There will also be selections from “Die Fledermaus.”

“Celebrating 35 years, Verdi Chorus was founded in 1983 at the Verdi Restaurant in Santa Monica.  When the restaurant closed in 1991, the Verdi Chorus continued,” said the press release. “In 1999, the chorus was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and has become a force in the L.A. classical music community, able to provide career development opportunities for young professional singers. Its repertoire includes over 300 choruses from 81 operas in seven languages.”

The Verdi Chorus is made up of over 50 singers between the ages of 22 to 80.
