Verbier Festival 2017 To Livestream Strauss’ ‘Elektra’ With Lise Lindstrom & Thomas Hampson

***Update: Eric Owens Will Be Singing the role of Oreste instead of Hampson, who has canceled.

The Verbier Festival will livestream Strauss’ “Elektra” on on July 27, 2017.

The opera will star Lise Lindstrom in the title role alongside Ingela Brimberg as Chrysothemis, Anna Larsson as Klytaemnestra and Thomas Hampson as Orest.

Esa-Pekka Salonen will conduct the Verbier Festival Orchestra. Salonen is well known for his interpretation of the piece as he conducted Patrice Chéreau’s final production at the Aix-En-Provence Festival and at the Metropolitan Opera.

The livestream comes after the company’s performance of Strauss’ “Salome,” which was conducted by Charles Dutoit.

The Verbier Festival is an international music event that takes place annually for two weeks in late July and early August in the mountain resort of Verbier, Switzerland. This year the festival runs from July 21 through August 6, 2017.
