Toby Spence, Natalya Romaniw Star in Garsington Opera’s 2020 Season

The Garsington Opera has announced its 2020 season which will feature two well established masterpieces of the standard repertory as well as two rare operas by legendary composers.

The season kicks off with Verdi’s very first comedy “Un Giorno di Regno.” The work will be directed by Christopher Alden in his company debut and conducted by Tobias Ringborg. Richard Burkhard performs Belfiore, and Henry Waddington appears as Barone di Kelbar.

Performance Dates: May 28-July 15, 2020

Next up is Mozart’s “Mitridate, re di Ponto,” with Tim Albery in the director’s chair. Clemens Schuldt conducts in his company debut and Robert Murray stars in the title role.

Performance Dates: May 29-July 2, 2020

Natalya Romaniw will star as “Rusalka” with Michael Boyd directing the Dvorak masterwork. Douglas Boyd conducts.

Performance Dates: June 13-July 18, 2020

Finally, Beethoven’s lone opera “Fidelio” gets a run of showcases with John Cox reviving his production. Toby Spence stars as Florestan, while Gérard Korsten makes his Garsington conducting debut.

Performance Dates: June 25-July 17, 2020
