Back in 2007, baritone Thomas Hampson gave a Distance Learning Voice Master Class at the Manhattan School of Music. In commemoration of the 10^th anniversary of that event, the American singer and the renowned conservatory are rejoining forces for the same program.

In a press release on Monday, the Manhattan School of Music announced that its program, which counts among the best in the world in “cutting-edge HD video conferencing technology to support performance, music education, and research,” would take place on March 15 at 4 P.M. EDT at The William R. and Irene D. Miller Recital Hall. The event will also be live-streamed via the school’s official website. The class will also be showcased via Facebook Live and the event will be free to the general public.

The program, which runs annually with Hampson at the helm, will feature bass Hidenori Inoue, soprano Angela Joy Lamb, mezzo-soprano Hongni Wu and baritone Christian Thurston.

Hampson is currently in the midst of singing the role of Giorgio Germont in Verdi’s “La Traviata” at the Metropolitan Opera. Regarding his performance, OperaWire noted that Hampson “was a dominant presence from his entrance onward, his singing filled with subtext.”

Hampson’s upcoming performances will take place on March 7, 11, 14, 18, 22 and 25.
