The Verbier Festival Announces 223 Students Selected for 2023 Academy and Orchestra Programs

The Verbier Festival has announced the 223 students which will participate in their Academy and Orchestra programs this summer.

From a pool of 2,253 applicants, 143 were selected as new participants with 8 being re-invited from previous years. Students can be re-invited twice for the Academy program, and thrice for Orchestra programs. In addition to traditional artistic training, the festival has recently added an Audio Recording program for recording engineers, as well as a Creative Project Development Residency, as they encourage students to explore new ways of presenting art.

Mentors for 2023 include figures such as Lise Davidsen, Renee Fleming, James Gaffigan, Thomas Hampson, Zubin Mehta, Ken Noda, and more.

Now celebrating its 30th year, the Academy offers over 90 master classes and workshops which are free and open to the public. Upcoming highlights include masterclasses with pianists Richard Goode and Rena Shereshevskya, chamber music with Gabor Takacs-Nagy, song with Veronique Gens, and a soprano masterclass with Renee Fleming for the Academy’s Atelier Lyrique.
