The Royal Opera House has ordered unprecedented security measures after the Manchester terror attack at an Ariana Grande Concert.

The concert noted in a press release “As you will soon be attending a performance or event at the Royal Opera House we would like to draw your attention to some changes to our security measures in light of the tragic events in Manchester and the raised UK security threat level. You will notice an increased security presence at the Royal Opera House and we will take time to search all bags on entry.”

The company noted that visitors should arrive as early as possible and avoid bringing any bags. It also noted that if a bag was necessary, it should be no bigger than a handbag.

The measures come a few days after a terrorist detonated a bomb at a concert venue. The result was that 22 people died and numerous people were injured.

The Royal Opera House is currently gearing up for a new production of Verdi’s “Otello.” It is one of the most anticipated productions of the year and one that will include Jonas Kaufmann in the title role.
