ARTE TV will present Franz Léhar’s “The Land Of Smiles.”

Piotr Beczala announced via social media that the recording from the Zurich opera will be streamed live at 11:45 European time.

The tenor wrote, “‘The Land of Smiles’ by Franz Lehár, one of the most popular operettas, will be broadcasted on ARTE TV tomorrow at 23:45. This particular production, with myself playing Sou-Chong, has been prepared and recorded at the Zurich Opera House last year and it is a real treat for all classical music lovers!”

The tenor performed the role in June and received rave reviews with critics stating, “Beczała sang in the lead of this new production. He took the stage with command.”

Beczala next takes on his first Don José in “Carmen” at the Vienna State Opera and then performs Rodolfo in “Luisa Miller” at the Metropolitan Opera.
