The Bolshoi Theatre announced its 2018-19 season featuring a number of new productions, tours, and concerts.

For its 243rd season, the Bolshoi Theatre is set to present 26 operas with a number of new productions. The season will get a new production of Tchaikovsky’s opera “Eugene Onegin” by director Eugeny Arye. The production will replace Dmitry Tcherniakov’s 12-year-old production.

The Bolshoi will also celebrate Bernstein’s 100th birthday by presenting a semi-staged production of the operetta Candide by Alexei Frandetti.

Meanwhile “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” will get a new production by Evgeny Pisarev and conducted by Pier Giorgio Morandi and Timofei Kulyabin will direct a new production of Dvorak’s “Rusalka,” which will be conducted by Ainārs Rubiķis.

Damiano Michieletto will also stage “Il Viaggio a Reims,” recently performed at the Bolshoi in a concert version.

The season will also bring the Estonian State Opera performing Wagner’s “Tannhäuser” and the Savolinna Festival featuring a production of “Otello” starring Carl Tanner, Marina Costa-Jackson, and Elia Fabbian.
