Teatro Regio di Parma to Stream ‘Pelléas et Mélisande’

Debussy’ “Pelléas et Mélisande” returns to the Teatro Regio di Parma on March 28, 2021.

The opera will be presented on Rai 5 and on Raiplay and will be directed by Barbe & Doucet. The new production will mark the first time the opera receives a new staging in 54 years at the Italian theater.

“Pelléas et Mélisande” is set to star Monica Bacelli as Mélisande, Phillip Addis as Pelléas, Michael Bachtadze as Golaud, Vincent Le Textier as Arkël, and Enkelejda Shkoza as Geneviève. Marco Angius conducts the Orchestra dell’Emilia-Romagna Arturo Toscanini and the chorus of the Teatro Regio di Parma

Debussy’s maserpiece will be the first opera the Teatro Regio di Parma stages in 2021; the presentation will be in a co-production with Fondazione Teatri di Piacenza and Fondazione Teatro Comunale di Modena.
