The Teatro Real has announced several cast changes for the title role in Verdi’s “Nabucco.”

The company noted that baritones Amartuvshin Enkhbat and George Petean have dropped out of the production and as a result, Gabriele Viviani, George Gagnidze, and Luca Salsi will sing the title role. They will join Luis Cansino, who will also sing performances as Nabucco.

Viviani, Gagnidze and Salsi join a cast that includes Michael Fabiano and Eduardo Aladrén as Ismaele; Dmitry Belosselskiy, Roberto Tagliavini, and Alexander Vinogradov as Zaccaria; Anna Pirozzi, Saioa Hernández, and Oksana Dyka in the role of Abigaille; and Silvia Tro Santafé, Elena Maximova, and Daniela Mack as Fenena. The cast also includes Simon Lim, Felipe Bou, Moisés Marín, and Maribel Ortega.

Nicola Luisotti and Jordi Bernacer conduct a production by Andreas Homoki.

“Nabucco” opens on July 5, and is set to run through July 22, 2022.
