Teatro dell’Opera di Roma to Present ‘The Merry Widow’

The Teatro dell Opera di Roma’s summer festival continues at the Circo Massimo with Franz Lehár’s “The Merry Widow.”

The operetta, which will be performed starting July 31 through August 12, will be conducted by Stefano Montanari and will star Nadja Mchantaf as Hanna Glawari, Markus Werba as Danilo Danilowitsch, Andrea Concetti as Mirko Zeta, Hasmik Torosyan as Valencienne, Juan Francisco Gatell as Camille de Rossillon, and Marcello Nardis as Raoul de St. Brioche. The cast will also include members of the “Fabbrica” – Young Artist Program dell’Opera di Roma.

The new production will be directed by Giulia Randazzo with sets by Giulia Bellè.

The production marks the fourth at Circo Massimo following “Rigoletto” and “Il Barbiere di Siviglia.” The season will close with a gala concert headlined by Anna Netrebko and Yusif Eyvazov.
