Teatro Colón To Live Stream ‘Andrea Chénier’

The Teatro Colón will present “Andrea Chénier” via live stream.

The production by Matías Cambiasso is set to star José Cura in the title role, Fabián Veloz as Carlo Gerrard, and María Pía Piscitelli as Maddalena.

The performance will mark the final of the season as the company gears up for its 2018 schedule, which it recently announced.

Cura is recognized for his portrayal of Chénier and has performed it all over the world. He has also become recognized for his portrayal of Otello, which has performed at the Salzburg Easter Festival, the Teatro del Liceu, the Metropolitan Opera and the Teatro Colón among others. He next takes on the title role of “Peter Grimes” at the Opera Monte Carlo and directs a new production of Verdi’s “Nabucco” at the National Theater in Prague.

Piscitelli next takes on the role of “Manon Lescaut” at the Liceu while Veloz takes on “Falstaff” at Opera Omaha and Barone Scarpia in “Tosca” at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma.

“Andrea Chénier” begins at 8 p.m. EST and will be live streamed on the company’s website.
