The Lyric Opera of Chicago has announced that Enrique Mazzola will extend his contract as Music Director through 2030-31. The Lyric Opera board signed off on the extension. Austria’s Bregenzer Festspiele has appointed Enrique Mazzola to the newly created position of conductor in residence. The festival noted that Mazzola will conduct “Ernani” in the Festspielhaus in 2023 and “Der Freischütz” on the Lake Stage in 2024.
