Sonya Yoncheva Returns To The Stage With ‘Vissi d’Arte’ [Video]

Sonya Yoncheva has returned to the stage.

After having cancelled her run of Massenet’s “Manon” at the Opera de Monte Carlo due to back pains, the soprano returned to the stage for “Les Victoires de la musique classique.” The soprano performed “Vissi d’Arte” from Puccini’s “Tosca.” Yoncheva has yet to perform the complete opera but based the on the frequency with which the aria has popped up on her concerts, this may be a hint at a future Tosca. She also performed Handel’s “Lascia ch’io pianga” from her new album which is set to be released this week.

The concert also included a performance from Jonas Kaufmann singing “Parla Piu Piano” from his new album “Dolce Vita.” The tenor is currently finishing up a run of Wagner’s “Lohengrin” at the Paris National Opera.

Other performers included Julien Behr, Catherine Trottman, Marie-Nicole Lemieux, Florian Sempey, Marianne Crebassa and mezzo soprano Stephanie d’Oustrac also performed music from Rossini, Bizet and Berlioz. The concert also included pianist Lucas Debargue, violinists Justin Taylor, Nemanja Radulovic and Tijana Milosevic.

Mikko Franck and Elena Schwarz conducted the l’Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France.
