Sonya Yoncheva has canceled her upcoming recital at the Teatro Alla Scala.

The soprano announced the news via social media stating, “Sonya Yoncheva is very sorry not to be able to leave Berlin to perform the recital at Teatro alla Scala scheduled for September 18 she was very much looking forward to. Sonya will be back at La Scala in March for “La traviata” and in June for the Rolex Ambassadors Gala.”

The recital was a makeup for another recital she had originally scheduled for the winter. However, she was forced to cancel that one due to illness.

Yoncheva is currently rehearsing a new production of “Medée” at the Berlin State Opera alongside Charles Castronovo and Daniel Barenboim. The productions opens on Oct. 7, 2018 and will mark her 50th role.
