Sony Classical will be releasing the Royal Opera House’s “Les Contes D’Hoffmann.”

The production stars Vittorio Grigolo in the title role as well as Sonya Yoncheva as Antonia. Kate Lindsey, Thomas Hampson, Christine Rice, and Sofia Fomina also star in the production, which was conducted by Evelino Pido.

When the production opened last fall, critics were ecstatic and said, “Vittorio Grigolo was strapping, sexy, and desperate, and his open-throated, silvery sound was utterly thrilling.” Meanwhile, they noted that Yoncheva was “full of warmth, a beautiful meta-image of an artist in love with making art. “

Yoncheva and Grigolo are both exclusive artists of Sony, and the production marks Yoncheva’s third Sony DVD and her fifth headlining audio/visual release with the company. The DVD is Grigolo’s first with the company and his fifth Sony audio/visual release, including his album “The Romantic Hero,” on which Yoncheva appears as a guest artist.
