Sony Pictures Classics has announced the release of “Maria by Callas” on DVD and Blu-Ray.

The distributor has revealed that the award-winning film will be released on Feb. 12, 2019.

The documentary, which was showcased premiered at the Toronto Film Festival, New York Film Festival, and LA Film festival, among others, was a box office hit making over $1 million; it was also a critical hit scoring an 89 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

The documentary is an intimate look at the life and work of Greek-American opera singer Maria Callas, as told in her own words. Joyce DiDonato narrates the film, which OperaWire noted “a poignant, human, and glorious work of art that only solidifies the artistic genius of opera’s greatest star.”
