Social Media Beat (Week 7/14-20): A Look At Festival Season

It’s festival season and some of the biggest stars are preparing for their upcoming performances or ending their 2016-17 season. Check out what some of your favorite stars have been up to.

Anna Netrebko gave a sneak peek into rehearsals of Aida. In one of her pictures, flashes of the production were visible with chorus members littering the stage. The opera opens August 6 and is slated to be streamed through Arte.

Ailyn Pérez was spotted in Hungary and shared pictures from her appearance on MTV promoting her concert. The diva goes on vacation and returns to the stage in September.

After taking over the 360 of Opera’s Instagram, Leah Crocetto shared a curtain calof herer performance of “The Siege of Calais” at the Glimmerglass Festival. The production will be seen by OperaWire this weekend with a review coming thereafter. Leah Crocetto continues the run until August before heading to Pittsburgh for her first Tosca.

In anticipation for the world premiere of Steve Jobs, the Santa Fe Opera previewed its production, which features iPhones on the stage.The production runs through August 25.
