Social Media Beat: How Did Opera Stars Say Goodbye to 2016?

By Francisco Salazar

This week many singers ended the year singing their last performances or in the rehearsal room while others went back home to take a break from the stage.

After spending Christmas in Vienna with her family, the soprano returned to the stage for her final performance of the year. Netrebko performed Macbeth at the Bayerische Staatsoper where she announced that her husband Yusif Eyvazov could finally walk. She concluded the week celebrating her 1 anniversary since she was married. The two celebrated the occasion with friends and family and from the looks of the pictures it was a lot of fun. Netrebko returns to the stage in February for a new production of Verdi’s “Il Trovatore” with Roberto Alagna at the Vienna State Opera.

Beautiful day it was ❤️️
