By Francisco Salazar

If there was one event that opera lovers couldn’t miss this week, it was the return of Dmitri Hvorostovsky. The baritone was joined by Anna Netrebko and her Husband Yusif Eyvazov in a sold out concert that included some of the greatest hits in opera and a number of Russian selections. The performance was a big hit and Hvorostovsky showed his happiness in a picture alongside his children and friends.

The cast of “Don Giovanni” showed its collective enthusiasm for the Metropolitan Opera’s revival as the group all joined together for a picture. Some were in full costumes while others were in ordinary clothes.

Joyce DiDonato and David Portillo shared a moment together during rehearsals of their “Ariodante” tour. The two are scheduled for a performance at Carnegie Hall this weekend. OperaWire will be there!

Olga Peretyatko recorded a video from inside the car trunk of Michael Mayer’s “Rigoletto.” As the performance was happening the soprano described the trunk and one could hear Zeljko Lucic’s voice in the background.
