Social Media Beat (2/13-17): Who Got Engaged This Week?

By David Salazar

It was a huge week for a number of major opera singers this week, some receiving huge honors and others getting special Valentine’s Day treats.
For Corinne Winters it was probably one of the biggest weeks of her life, the Soprano announcing her engagement to tenor Adam Smith and rocking her ring on Instagram.

Reigning diva Anna Netrebko was awarded with the honor of Kammersängerin in Austria, an honor bestowed on distinguished singers of opera and classical music.

For Isabel Leonard and Michael Fabiano, it was an opportunity to sing the national anthem to hockey crowds in New York. First up was Leonard singing at Madison Square Garden in a game between the NY Rangers and Colorado Avalanche. Then on Thursday it was Fabiano’s turn to sing, this time in Brooklyn at the Barclays Center in a game between the NY Islanders and NY Rangers. Give Leonard a listen.

Aaaaahhhhhhhh!!! So fun! @nyrangers 🎶
