Social Media Beat (1/8-13): Paris National Opera Confirms Jonas Kaufmann’s Returns With Behind The Scenes Stills

By Francisco Salazar

Its the end of the week so lets take a look at what some of your favorite stars were up to on Social Media .

Jonas Kaufmann

While Kaufmann does not have a social media page of his own, the Opera de Paris shared a number of pictures from rehearsals of “Lohengrin.” After a number of doubters thought Kaufmann would not be singing at Paris, the pictures show him very healthy and he seems to be enjoying his rehearsal period. In one of the pictures Kaufmann is with Martina Serafin, who is playing Elsa. With anticipation building on his big return, this should keep fans exciting.

Olga Peretyatko

After New Years break, the coloratura soprano is back in New York for Verdi’s “Rigoletto.” From the looks of it the soprano is enjoying her time in New York with friends and in rehearsal with Stephen Costello and Zeljko Lucic. She also posted pictures from concert in Lausanne and showed off her two gowns.

Elina Garanca

After time off from Social, Garanca returned as she is in Mexico for the first time. The mezzo is giving a number of concerts around the country and she has taken the time to share her experience. On social media Garanca showed off savory tacos as well as worms she tasted. She also showed off some of her favorite locations she visited. And of course there was a picture in rehearsal with the whole orchestra. The mezzo continues in Mexico for three performances before going back to Europe.

Ailyn Pérez

After a successful La Boheme Wednesday night Ailyn Pèrez took time to show off behind the scenes stills with Paul Plishka and Susanna Phillips. She also took photos with Michael Fabiano and with the cast of Breaking the Waves, which made a trip to the Metropolitan Opera. Pèrez was also part of the WQXR’s podcast this week. The soprano sings one more performance of Mimì and we believe you cannot miss it.

Anna Netrebko

There is a reason Netrebko always makes our list. She is the most socially active and she always has something to share. The diva showed off her scores for “Aida,” “Andrea Chenier” and “Adriana Lecouvreur,” which she is preparing. She also showed off pictures of some of the designs for her upcoming gowns from Irina Vitjaz and interesting hats from the designers. Along the week the soprano announced that she was returning to work after a long vacation in Vienna. She will open a new production of Verdi’s “Il Trovatore” at the Vienna State Opera.
