Rolando Villazón, Sonya Yoncheva & Cecilia Bartoli Théâtre des Champs Elysées 2017-18 Season

The Théâtre des Champs Elysées has announced its 2017-18 season, which will feature some of opera’s greatest stars.

Productions

The season opens with Donizetti’s “Lucia di Lammermoor” starring Jessica Pratt and Paolo Fanale. The concert performance will honor the 40th-anniversary since Maria Callas’ death.

Mozart’s ‘La Clemenza di Tito” will also be performed as well as Verdi’s “Macbeth” with Anna Pirozzi in the role of Lady Macbeth and Gianandrea Noseda in the pit. Ermonela Jaho and Bryan Hymel star in Puccini’s  “Madama Butterfly” while Tatiana Serjan takes on the role of Odabella in Verdi’s “Attila” with Daniele Rustioni conducting.

Michele Angelini and Kate Lindsey star in Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” with Peter Kalman in the title role. Patricia Petibon stars in Poulenc’s “Dialogues des Carmelites” alongside Sophie Koch, Veronique Gens, and Anne Sophie Von Otter.

Cecilia Bartoli returns to the theater in Handel’s “Alcina” with Philippe Jaroussky. Jaroussky also stars in Gluck’s “Orfeo ed Euridice” alongside Patricia Petibon.

Roberto Alagna and Marie-Nicole Lemieux star in Saint-Saëns’ “Samson et Dalila” with maestro Bertrand de Billy.

Finally, Karine Deshayes takes the title role of “La Cenerentola” in Rossini’s masterpiece while Mariana Pizzolato will portray the headliner in “L’Italiana in Algeri.”

Concerts 

The many artists performing in concert this season include Magdalena Kozena in a Baroque concert, Natalie Dessay with her husband Laurent Naori and Juan Diego Flórez. Sonya Yoncheva will also join her brother for a concert of many classics while Ildar Abdrazakov and Rolando Villazón will join forces.

Anna Prohaska will showcase her talents in recital and Pretty Yende will perform selections by Handel and Gluck. Maria José Siri and Francesco Meli will also take on Puccini and Verdi classics. Finally, Franco Fagioli and Julia Lezhneva will interpret Pergolesi “Stabat Mater.”
