The Mozarteum in Salzburg has announced its programming for Mozart week in 2019. It will feature a wide range of music including theatrical, vocal, orchestral, and chamber music. As has been our policy with other season announcements, OperaWire will stick to the vocal performances only in this article.

The company will kick things off with a production of “T.H.A.M.O.S.,” a play that was adapted by La Fura dels Baus into an opera of sorts. It will feature Mozart’s music for the original play that he accompanied but will also include arias from other works. It will star René Pape, Fatma Said, and Nuttaporn Thammathi.

Performance Dates: Jan. 24, 28, Feb. 1

Mozart’s early opera “Bastien und Bastienne” will be showcased in a puppet theater with Mojca Erdmann, Paul Schweinster, and Theo Hoffman as the singers.

 The Vienna Philharmonic will showcase a concert with soprano Krassimira Stoyanova singing arias from some of Mozart’s great operas including “Le Nozze di Figaro” and “La Clemenza di Tito.”

 In another concert featuring the Requiem in d minor, the orchestra will showcase Christiane Karg, Angela Brower, Rolando Villazón, and Adam Plachetka as soloists. That concert will also feature other symphonic music.

The Chamber Orchestra of Europe will showcase a concert with soprano Louise Alder that will also include arias from “Don Giovanni,” “Die Zauberflöte,” and “Le Nozze di Figaro,” among others.

Cecilia Bartoli also sings some arias with the Cappella Andrea Barca. The concert will also feature a piano concerto performed by András Schiff.

Mozart’s “Betulia Liberata” gets a showcase under the Les Talens Lyriques and the Salzburger Bachchor. It will feature Sandrine Piau, Teresa Iervolino, Pablo Bemsch, Nahuel Di Pierro, and Amanda Forsythe as the soloists.

Mozart’s Mass in C Minor, KV 427 will star Siobhan Stagg, Eva Zaïcik, Sebastian Kohlhepp, Kresimir Strazanac with the Orchestra des Champs-Élysées.

Il Giardino Armonico will showcase performances of Mozart’s Mass in C Minor, KV 139 with Giulia Semenzato, Marianna Pizzolato, Paul Schweinster, and Theo Hoffman as the soloists. The concert will also feature the “Grabmusik” Cantata for Soprano, Bass, and Chorus.

The Mozart Children’s Orchestra will present a concert with a wide range of arias and music from Mozart. Fatma Said, Theo Hoffman, and Rolando Villazón are the soloists.

Ramón Vargas headlines a concert with the Mozarteum Orchester Salzburg.

The Cantata KV 469 will showcase Christina Gansch, Stepanka Pucalkova, and Nuttaporn Thammathi as the soloists in collaboration with the Symphonic Orchestra of the Mozarteum University.

The Camerata Salzburg will showcase more arias and symphonies in collaboration with soprano Regula Mühlemann.

Soprano Olga Peretyatko-Mariotti stars with the Mozarteum Orchester Salzburg in a concert featuring a number of arias, the Mozart Horn Concerto in E flat major, and Symphony in C Major, KV 338.

There will also be a recital by Tenor Mauro Peter and pianist Helmut Deutsch as well as a concert entitled “Serenata Mexicana” with Rolando Villazón and Los Mariachis Negros.
