Robert Alagna has announced that he will sing the role of Manrico in Verdi’s “Il Trovatore” at the Opera National de Paris.

The tenor posted the news on Facebook and revealed that he will sing the role alongside Ekaterina Semenchuk, Gabriele Viviani and Elena Stikhina. The production will be conducted by Maurizio Benini and Alagna will only be doing the June 25 and 28 performances.

While the Opera National de Paris has not announced its 2017-18 season, a lot of information has surfaced the internet over the past week. Alagna’s wife, Aleksandra Kurzak revealed that she would be performing two roles next season in Mozart’s “La Clemenza di Tito” and in Verdif’s “Falstaff.” Days later a pictured appeared on Instagram that showed that Anna Netrebko would be returning to the role of Violetta in Verdi’s “La Traviata” alongside Placido Domingo. Alagna is currently rehearsing a new production of “Il Trovatore” with Netrebko and Ludovic Tezier at the Vienna State Opera. The production is expected to premiere on Feb. 5. The tenor will then return to the Opera National de Paris for a run of Bizet’s “Carmen” and will then sing the title role in Alfano’s “Cyrano de Bergerac” at the Metropolitan Opera. He is also scheduled for Donizetti’s “L’Elisir d’amore” and Puccini’s “Turandot” at the Royal Opera House.
