Rinat Shahm To Sing ‘Bluebeard’s Castle’ With NYOGB

The National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain has announced a cast change for Bartok’s “Bluebeard’s Castle.”

The company announced “due to illness Claudia Mahnke is no longer able to perform the role of Judith in “Bluebeard’s Castle.”We are indebted to Rinat Shaham for stepping in at short notice.

Shaham is well known for her interpretation of “Carmen,” which she has performed all over the world including the Royal Opera House, Palm Beach Opera, Sao Paulo among others. This season, she is scheduled to sing the role in Sydney, Sevilla, and Poland. She also takes on the role of Judith at the Palau de les Arts.

The National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain performs “Bluebeard’s Castle” on Jan. 5 through Jan. 7. Sir Mark Elder conducts with Robert Hayward in the title role. The concert will also include Liadov’s “The Enchanted Lake” and Dukas’ “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.”
