Renée Fleming & Vittorio Prato Showcase New CD/DVD Releases – June 17

This week, two solo albums are released and a big compilation album featuring rare recordings is set for release.

Il Bravo

Vittorio Prato and Illiria collaborate together for the baritone’s first solo album. The new album is dedicated to the art of the great baritone Antonio Tamburini and includes selections of rare Bel Canto arias from the operas of the beginning of the 19th century. Among the composers in the album include Donizetti, Bellini, Saviero Mercandante, Carlo Coccia, Pietro Generali, Michael William Balfe, Giuseppe Balducci, and Marco Aurelio Marliani. The baritone is accompanied by the Orchestra “Virtuosi Brunenses” and “Camerata Bach Choir” under the direction of José Miguel Pérez-Sierra.

Lieder

Renée Fleming returns to classical music with her new album dedicated to Mahler, Brahms, and Schumann. Fleming is joined by Christian Thielemann and the Munich Philharmonic, performing Mahler’s Rückert Lieder. The album also includes songs by Schumann and Brahms with Hartmut Höll at the piano.

 150 Years At Wiener Staatsoper

In celebration of Vienna’s 150th years, Orfeo has released a CD compilation of nine operas featuring some previously unreleased recordings including “Eugene Onegin” starring Anna Netrebko and Dmitri Hvorostovsky and “Un Ballo in Maschera” with Piotr Beczala and Krassimira Stoyanova. The 22-CD set also includes some of the legendary voices of the theater in a set of solo arias. The set also includes recordings from 1955 to 2016.
